In reply to your letter No.33607/25 of 5th inst. I have much pleasure in saying that Mr.Daniel Eland Toed is very well known to me.He was under my direct Command for a period of over 3 years in Gallipell and afterwards in France and Belgium. I have the very highest opinion of Mr Wood's moral character, intellectual abilities, physical constitution and powers of endurance under the wadet=ibe mest exacting and anger,us conditions.
I have never been called upon to bear testimony of an individual in whom I felt more confidence, in recommending for favourable consideration for employment in the Publice Service.
In discipline, leadership, tact, initiative and industry, Mr Weed is a man who can be depended spou in every respect.
